Excuses, excuses..

Fri Mar 5, 2004, 7:36 AM
Hiya,

I will shortly be putting up a few more pictures, these are just little experiments, not finished pieces. I'm putting them up to hopefully get some criticism on them. I've been working on different ideas, but sadly, with too much time being taken up with exams, i havent been able to take many new photos :|

They are more of the same old thing sadly; messed up photos. I wanted to get down to some proper photography (well, at least attempt it) but as i say, time has not been plentiful recently.

Oh well, thanks for reading.

So glad you like Rehearsed, esp. so much as you do. We took about sixty shots of her on that swing and that was definitely THE one. And yeah, I thought all those trees below gave it a treacherous undercurrent too.

Also glad you liked the "not my usual style" of Maestro - that's actually my mother's favorite piece of mine. I hope to challenge "my usual style" quite a bit in coming months, so hopefully that was a good precedent.

Thanks for all your support, sir, in every way.

Glad you're liking these nature shots (there's one more to go, probably up Friday). Evidence, in particular, feels to me like probably the best single photograph I've ever taken (all the way back in 1999), so on one hand I wonder if I'll ever out-do it, but on the other, I'm just so glad people like it so much as I do.

Implicit, on the other hand, might be one of the best I've ever spotted. I feel super-lucky to have seen what it had to offer - I don't take magic moments like that for granted.

In any case, rest assured I'll keep soldiering along... You help make it a joy to do so. :aww:

Glad you liked the wall effect - I felt pros and cons about it, but ultimately felt it just looked too cool to pass up.

Moreover, I hope you enjoyed my "non-pensive" image - it was your observation weeks ago that got me quite excited to do this one! I'd taken the shot last summer, and long been intrigued with it, but it was you that really got me fired up to develop it to its full potential.

Yes, YOU!

Awww thanks so much mate!
It's a truly intriguing piece, i like it a lot :D I had noticed that she didn't have a wistful, pensive expression and it's very effective, especially as she is coming right out at you. A passionate picture i thought.

I'm flattered that you took my comment to heart so. Thank you so much, for all the inspiration you've given me i'm overjoyed to think i've helped you in any way.

good luck with your next show! :worship:

Red doesn't always pop the subject best, but generally against skies or greenery, reliably. Red will generally be the brightest, Blue the darkest (and most full of digital "trash") and Green will generally represent the best midtones. Red foundation with Green set to Darken above it (at various opacities) is pretty reliably a good start, but you can get a lot more complex and deliberate than that.

One thing I'd tell you when you go shooting is to really look for those strong compositions - the methods really soar when the basic composition is strong to begin with, and in fact the primary goal is to nurture exactly that.

It was later in the day when we shot Give You This Forever, and then I "helped." In particular, the trees behind her were much brighter. So in that case I probably used Red to Multiply them back, since it would have affect her the least and the green foliage the most. Which ideally would give you more insight into how to leverage what the image gives you.

So glad you're coming aboard with this! =D

Here's the simple introduction and here's the extravagant manifesto. Don't try to digest that all at once! (Someone told me it print out 140 pages! I had no idea!)

But I'll be very interested to hear what you think.
